Overview of Elementary Dance
All elementary students get the chance to attend a dance class every week. Our dance program focuses on dance literacy which includes: dance skills and techniques, dance making, dance vocabulary, dance history, dance from different cultures, dance genres, and dance choreographers. Student in elementary also have the unique opportunity to receive reading intervention instruction through dance instruction.

Meet the Teacher- Emory Smith
Emory Grace Smith is a native of Huntsville, Alabama. She began her dance training at the Dance Theatre of Huntsville and participated in the Lee High School Dance Magnet Ensemble. A graduate of Alabama State University, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. She has performed at the Alabama Dance Festival and the International Association of Blacks in Dance annual convention. She is the recipient of a variety of accolades including the Charlie Hudson Kennedy Center Award/ACDA Southern Region Award, and a Complexions Contemporary Ballet Scholarship. She was awarded scholarship and attended the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Summer Intensive and the Garth Fagan Summer Institute. Her performance credits include Kavin Grant: The Winter Intensive and the American College Dance Association Nationals.
