Elementary Theatre

Elementary Theatre:
An Overview

AAA Theatre believes in the well-rounded theatre artist.

We work with our students to discover, create, adapt, and express themselves in any situation - whether it be in theatre or in life. Theatre assists in teaching important life-skills, such as creative problem solving, communication, and empathy.

4th & 5th grade elementary students get a taste of the theatre world in class. Student meet weekly for theatre class. In addition to learning the theatre basics, such as stage directions, learning to read a scripts, and basic set, costume, and prop design, they focus on readers theatre. Readers theatre is a style of theater in which the actors present dramatic readings of narrative material without costumes, props, scenery, or special lighting. Actors only use vocal expression to help the audience understand the story. This cumulates in an Elementary Theatre Festival Performance at the end of each semester. Starting in 4th grade, students can audition and be apart of  the main stage productions.

We hope to see you at the theatre!

Meet the Teacher:
Mr. Josh Feemster
joshua.feemster@hsv-k12.org

I am a teaching artist who has been at the Academy since 2017. I have been doing theatre for over 10 years. I participated in theatre all through middle and high school and worked in theatre at both the college level and professionally. I love to travel, read, and learn new things. I cannot wait to get to work with as many students and faculty members as possible and explore theatre together; through empathy, ensemble, and hands on experience.
